Following our new topic this month All about me
This morning the children in the Tweenie room had a lovely time using the mirrors to observe and identify their body parts. We had a go at drawing our self portraits too whilst talking about hair colour and body part names. Many of the children were able to identify themselves when looking into the mirror π
The children were really engaged with this mirror activity so we decided to extend the activity by taking them into the garden and use them to observe ourselves through nature! The children enjoyed looking at themselves in a natural light and used the mirrors to look up at the sky and other objects they could see. ποΈ ... See MoreSee Less

Over the next few weeks preschool are going to be learning the letters and sounds of s,a,t,p,I,n
What is SATPIN?
SATPIN refers to the first six letters that many phonics programs begin with when introducing initial sounds to children. This is phase 2 in the guidance. In preschool we have explored the seven aspects of phase 1 discreetly to build towards phase 2, this involves general sound discrimination, rhythm and rhyme, alliteration and voice sounds. Oral blending and segmenting and recognising the grapheme (letter) prepare children for starting school.
This week we are learning about the letter and sound "S". We have played in the slippery, slimy sludge with snakes and shreddies, explored objects beginning with S in the sound bag and made strawberry cake βΊοΈ ... See MoreSee Less

The Tweenie room have had a lovely week with lots of Jubilee celebrations and activities to end our topic The Hungry Caterpillar. We have thoroughly enjoyed this topic. We have learnt lots about the life cycle of a butterfly and have been extremely lucky to observe this with our own caterpillars that turned into beautiful butterflies at the beginning of this week.
Today we said goodbye to our butterflies and set them free π¦ The children watched and waved the butterflies fly off to their new adventures in the wild π

Over the past few weeks preschool have been loving exploring and learning all about the Queen. We have discussed the royal family, and who the Queen is and what she does. The children celebrated by having their very own afternoon tea party- including making their own sandwiches, facepainting, dancing and much more fun.
How are you celebrating the platinum jubilee weekend? ππ¬π§π ... See MoreSee Less
