Our nursery environment and facilities enable your child to explore, develop and learn. Our Baby, Tweenies, Toddler and Preschool spaces are specially designed and equipped especially with them in mind. You’ll see many familiar homely items such as bookcases, tables, chairs, and sofas just much smaller than you are used to!
We consider the spaces around them to be your child’s third teacher, joining you as parents and us as educators in guiding them through their learning. And you’ll notice how we use our garden area as an outdoor classroom too, full of features to support their play and learning. Our Baby, Tweenie, Toddler and Preschool rooms are perfect for the ages of children that spend their time in them.
We keep many aspects of our nursery environments consistent as we know your child will benefit greatly from this. With core resources, enriching toys, games and creative materials, that are always at hand for your child to play with. However, it is not unusual for parts of our nurseries to become unique adventure places where your child’s imagination can run free!
Babies environment
This is for babies aged 3 months to 18 months. The children will enjoy a bright and open plan room with specific areas for non-mobile children. We have a separate safe and cosy sleep area, where the temperatures are constantly monitored to ensure the babies are comfortable at all times. The rest of the baby room is carefully designed for curious, active babies with development encouraged, and monitored, through creative and sensory activities. There are never more than three babies to any one member of staff in the baby room, with each baby having their own named key person.
Tweenies environment
The Tweenies room benefits from a number of dedicated spaces, all designed with sensory and creative activities in mind to stimulate the children’s development and enjoyment. These areas help the children to explore their creativity through activities such as reading, messy play and daily structured activities, supported by our staff, throughout their time with us. We continue to build their confidence, encouraging the children with toilet training through specially designed toilet facilities which are just the right size for children their age. Tweenies benefit from a staffing ratio of one member of staff looking after no more than four children.
Toddlers environment
The large, bright open plan Toddler room also benefits from a number of dedicated areas, designed with sensory and creative areas to stimulate the children’s development and enjoyment. The Toddlers have a creative area for messy play, a reading corner, a home corner and a free play area for structured activities throughout the day. The Toddler rooms are fully equipped to encourage the children’s independence, including their own easily accessible children’s toilets and sink to encourage toilet training. Toddlers benefit from a staffing ratio of one member of staff looking after no more than four children.
Preschool environment
Preschool children follow the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’ preparing them for their eventual move to school. This is a more settled routine, with children working in small groups. Through our observations of children learning through play, we are able to introduce adult led activities that follow the interest of individual children, linking them to the seven areas of learning: communication & language, physical development, personal social and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, understanding of the world, expressive arts and design. The Pre School room is fully equipped and designed around the children to ensure they maintain their interest and development. The children have open access to the garden every day (free flow) from their room and complete a lot of their daily activities outside through choice. The garden also reflects the areas of learning.
